Personal Development

We believe that personal development is a thread that runs throughout the curriculum, developing the qualities and attributes our children need to thrive in society as individuals and as part of a wider community. It enables children to apply the knowledge and skills they learn in all subjects of the national curriculum to real-life situations, while fulfilling their academic potential. It develops their confidence, self-esteem and resilience and includes emotional, spiritual, moral and physical education.  It is important that children know how to keep safe and well therefore as part of our safeguarding we teach children about:

  • Understanding self and relationships
  • Healthy eating
  • Road, rail and water safety
  • E-safety
  • Positive mental health

Personal Development Awards

As part of Moore Primary School’s commitment to develop the whole child, we have introduced two personal development awards for the children to work towards:

  1. Acorn Award: Reception to Year 2
  2. Oak Award: Year 3 to Year 6

As well as teaching all the subjects within the National Curriculum and ensuring our children have the right skills for their futures, we strive to ensure that each child has the opportunity to grow in their own personal development. These awards recognise the importance of this.

Within the two awards are activities and opportunities that we believe are important for the children to experience; activities which can be completed in school and at home. Once all the activities are completed, the children will have achieved the award.

In Celebration Assembly, they are presented with a certificate and there is an opportunity of a special badge to wear on their school uniform with pride. In addition to this, their name is added to the roll of honour on the Personal Development Achievement Wall in school.

The children and staff are so excited about these awards.
